Begin the experience with a guided walk through the montado, the traditional cork oak landscape that is one of the most characteristic ecosystems of the Alentejo. During the walk, guests will learn about the cork oak tree, the cork harvesting cycle and the importance of cork production to the region, while also discovering the biodiversity and sustainable management behind this remarkable landscape.

This first contact with the cork oak forest provides the perfect introduction to the visit to the cork factory that follows, allowing guests to understand where cork comes from and how it is harvested before seeing how the raw material is transformed and prepared for its many different uses.

At Cortiçarte, the cork factory, guests will have the opportunity to discover the fascinating transformation process of cork, from the extraction of the cork oak bark to the creation of a wide variety of final products. It will be possible to see the different stages of cork processing, learn about the techniques used and understand why Portugal is a world leader in this sector.

After this immersion into the world of cork, the experience continues to the elegant MAINOVA winery, a contemporary family-owned estate located in the heart of Alentejo.

Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and the peaceful Alentejo landscape, the experience at MAINOVA combines authenticity, sophistication, and a deep connection to nature.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the property and learn about the estate’s philosophy, which is focused on sustainability, responsible production and valuing the Alentejo terroir. Depending on availability, the visit may include a walk around the estate to discover the vineyards, the centuries-old olive groves, the animals and the cork oak forest.

The visit is followed by a carefully selected wine tasting paired with regional products, allowing guests to discover the elegance, freshness, and personality of MAINOVA wines.

The experience continues with a traditional Alentejo lunch paired with estate wines, served in a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere — the perfect setting to enjoy the slow rhythm and genuine spirit of Alentejo.
